About this design
Belfry opens on an engraved bell hanging in its arch, with the couple’s names in copperplate script below. Tap “Ring the bell” and it swings three times, sending rings of sound out, then a printing-press roller sweeps down the screen and the invitation is printed underneath it.
Inside, every picture is a hand-tinted engraving in sage, blush and sky blue: a whitewashed Goan church among palms, the vows at the altar, the first dance under strings of lights, and two rings on an open book. Each one is printed by its own small roller as it scrolls into view. The day is set out like a church programme, “The order of the day”, with dotted leaders, then the church with directions, a countdown, a reply card and who is coming.
Made for Christian church weddings in Kerala, Goa and across India; the reception can be left out.
