About this design
A ceremonial invitation for Tamil, Telugu and Kannada temple weddings. Guests arrive at two carved temple doors with brass studs; they ring the bell, the doors swing inward and they step through into the mandapam.
Inside, a Tanjore-style painting of the couple sits in a temple niche under a gopuram, the families' note rests on a hand-drawn kolam, and the Subha Muhurtham is counted down between pillars. Each celebration, from the Nichayathartham to the oonjal and the reception, is introduced by a kuthu vilakku lamp that lights as it comes into view.
Deep temple green, maroon silk and burnished gold, with zari borders, mango-leaf thoranam, an RSVP form and instrumental music.
