About this design
Kasavu Kalyanam in Malayalam: a kalyanam invitation for a Kerala Hindu wedding where every line guests read is in warm, respectful Malayalam, from the first page of the sketchbook to the muhurtham and thalikettu, the sadya and the vivaha salkaram.
The watercolour opening with its country boat and jasmine strings, the families' note on a folded kasavu cloth, the details served on a banana leaf, the jasmine-string countdown, the RSVP form and the instrumental music are the same as in the original design. Dates and times are typed by the host, so they read the way a Malayalam wedding card words them.
