About this design
A Bengali Hindu wedding invitation in sindoor red and conch-shell white, painted in the spirit of Kalighat pats.
Guests first see a red floor on which a white lotus alpona draws itself around the couple's names. One tap and it blooms, a conch is blown, and the red lifts away like the pallu of a laal-paar saree.
Inside, the bride and groom hang as a scroll painting, the Shubho Lagna sits on a saree-bordered slab with a countdown, and Gaye Holud, the wedding with Shubho Drishti, and Bou Bhaat unroll side by side as painted panels. Guests reply on the page and see who else is coming. Gaye Holud and Bou Bhaat can be left out.
