About this design
Swagat Sandhya, the welcome evening, is a wedding reception invitation for modern Indian couples who want the night after the vows to feel like a premiere. Everything is matte charcoal, warm white line and a single vermilion red.
Guests arrive at a velvet rope. One tap and three camera flashes pop, the rope swings aside and a red carpet unrolls up the screen before the view glides along it into the invitation. Inside, loose white-ink fashion sketches show the couple, the blessings on stage, the family dinner and the first dance.
The evening is set out as a running order along the carpet, with each time set large like a call sheet. The details sit on a white place card, a countdown runs to the hour the doors open, and guests reserve their seats in a simple RSVP with a list of who is coming. Dinner, the first dance and the dress code can each be left out.
