About this design
Chaar Laavan in Punjabi: a Sikh wedding card in Gurmukhi that reads the way families write them, from "ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਅਪਾਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ" to "ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਲੰਗਰ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਵਰਤੇਗਾ".
It opens before dawn under a gold ੴ. One tap and the night lifts, rings spread across the sarovar and the names rise out of their reflection. Inside are miniature paintings of the ਜਾਗੋ night, the ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ with four gold arcs for the ਚਾਰ ਲਾਵਾਂ, and the reception at dusk, then the gurdwara with directions, a countdown to ਪਹਿਲੀ ਲਾਂਵ, RSVP and the sangat so far.
