About this design
Kathputli Byah in Gujarati: a digital kankotri for families who would rather make their guests laugh than send one more formal card. The wording is lively, everyday Gujarati, respectful to elders, with the string jokes rewritten around the દોરી and a drummer's "ઢંઢેરો" in place of a stiff announcement.
The design is the same Jodhpur-blue puppet theatre. A tap, two beats on the dholak, the leheriya blind rolls up and the bride and groom puppets drop in to dance. Inside, the wedding plays out on three small stages (ઘૂમરની રાત, વરઘોડો, ફેરા), a caravan of camels brings the date, the muhurat, the venue and the dress code, four mirror-work discs count down, and guests book their seat on the page. The Ghoomar night, the Varghodo and the dress code can be left out.
