About this design
Now Showing in Hindi: your shaadi as a grand film premiere, written in the voice of Hindi film publicity rather than translated. The marquee reads अब बड़े परदे पर, the poster promises a love story whose show runs a lifetime, and the credits thank every chacha, mama, bua and mausi for the music. The sangeet is the म्यूज़िकल धमाका, the wedding is the मेन पिक्चर and the reception comes इंटरवल के बाद. Guests book their seats at the टिकट खिड़की, and the film ends on समाप्त… हुए कुँवारे दिन.
The design is the same dark auditorium: red velvet curtains, a marquee of chasing bulbs, a film-leader countdown, ticket stubs on a strip of film and a clapperboard counting down to the day.
