About this design
Pattu Kalyanam in Tamil, the language this design was made for: a kalyana pathirikai where every line guests read is in warm, respectful wedding Tamil, from the names woven into the pallu to the nichayathartham, the muhurtham and the varaverpu.
The folded Kanjivaram sari that opens fold by fold, the arakku maroon silk with its parrot green border and mustard zari, the vintage print pictures in cream medallions, the old printed wedding notice, the kaasu malai countdown, the reply slip and the instrumental music are the same as in the original design. Dates and times are typed by the host, so they read the way a Tamil wedding card words them.
