About this design
Phulkari Vyah in Hindi: a Punjabi wedding invitation written the way Punjabi families write in Hindi, warm, teasing and a little loud. "सपरिवार ज़रूर आइए", "भूखे आइए, नाचते हुए जाइए!" and a dhol that waits for nobody.
The design is the same hand-embroidered cloth in mustard, fuchsia, red, orange and emerald thread. One tap and the threads stitch a diamond medallion, a dhol beat lands and the cloth is swept away like a dupatta. Inside: the couple in an embroidered panel, a note from both families, then संगीत और ढोल की रात, शादी के फेरे and रिसेप्शन की दावत as patches down a dupatta, with the day, time and place, a countdown of four stitched diamonds, RSVP and a guest list. Sangeet and reception can be left out.
