About this design
Hina Bagh, the henna garden, is an invitation for the mehndi afternoon before an Indian wedding. It opens on a round mandala drawn in fresh henna paste. One tap and the paste dries and flakes away ring by ring, while the stain beneath deepens from pale orange to rich maroon, because the darker the mehndi, the deeper the love. Marigold strings drop in, the rings turn apart and the invitation shows through.
Inside, everything sits on soft sage green with fine henna-brown line work, coral, marigold and cream. The afternoon hangs on garden swings with marigold ropes: the henna, dholki and songs, bangles and chaat. The details are stacked like glass bangles, the countdown ticks inside four of them, and guests reply on a lace-edged card. Light, cheerful instrumental music plays once the invitation is opened.
