About this design
Hina Bagh in Hindi: a mehndi invitation written the way the bride's family would really say it, warm and a little cheeky. It opens with the saying every aunty knows, "मेहंदी का रंग जितना गहरा, प्यार उतना ही गहरा", and asks guests to hold out their hands and let the colour take its time.
The design is the same henna garden: a round mandala in fresh paste that dries, flakes away and leaves a deep maroon stain, then soft sage green with fine henna-brown line work, coral, marigold and cream. The afternoon hangs on garden swings (मेहंदी, ढोलकी और गीत, चूड़ियाँ और चाट), the day, time and place are stacked like glass bangles with a countdown in four of them, and guests reply on a lace-edged card. The dholki, the chaat and the dress code can be left out.
